Chili Cookoff a delicious experience

Student chef hands sample of chili to customer

The competition was heated … but the chili recipe conceived, prepared and served by Levi Fox and Quayanna Hooks got the most votes Friday at the Albany High School Chili Cookoff.

Family and friends turned out to sample and vote on chili and fixings made by students in Chef Lisa Valentine’s Culinary 2 and 3 classes. The annual event allows aspiring chefs to test their skills against each other. It also serves as a fundraiser for culinary programs, and Friday’s cookoff raised $500!

The team of Hakeem Paisley and Nathaniel Tubbs took second place, and Lunestra Santacruz (who competed solo) won third.

Congrats to all our student chefs, and thanks to everyone who turned out to support them!
