Short Play Festival opens Friday – tonight – The Theater Ensemble will present three performances of the Short Play Festival this Friday (TONIGHT) and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door and cost $15 each for general admission and $5 each for students and seniors. Bring up grades online – Albany High students can now bring up their first-quarter grades at theOnline Success Center. All students with at least 85% attendance are welcome to sign up. Food pantry this week – The school food pantry behind the Citizenship Office is open on Tuesday from 3:45-5:30 p.m. or by appointment. Specials this week include Pringles, frozen pepperoni pizzas, Takis, almond milk, cocoa, macaroni and cheese, apples, and eggs. We also have many sides to help supplement Thanksgiving dinners for families like stuffing, bread, turkey gravy, green beans, collard greens, cream corn and carrots. We also are stocked up on hygiene supplies for families and diapers.

Spring play audition workshop – Theater Ensemble Director Brian Avery will hold an audition workshop on Nov. 27 in the choir room from 4-6 p.m. for students interested in being part of the school's spring musical, "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." Interested students can learn the audition music, find out about upcoming auditions and get their questions answered.

Chamber concert rings in holidays – On Wednesday, our talented student musicians and vocalists held the first of three winter concerts. Performing were the B Flats, Albanettes, Troubadours, Chamber Choir and Jazzmanian Devils along with a cello duet and string quartet. Check out Facebook photos from the show.
Best Buddies Thanksgiving bash a blast – Best Buddies always throw a great a party, and on Wednesday, they enthusiastically rooted for three hardy souls that engaged a Thanksgiving pie-eating contest at Abrookin Career and Technical Center. NASA talk otherworldly – On Tuesday, NASA mathematician Alan Hylton flew in from Washington, DC to talk to Albany High students about his unconventional path to the U.S. agency responsible for space research & travel. He also discussed his latest project, a solar internet. Learn more.

Leaving school – Albany High School is a closed campus. Students are not allowed to leave campus for any reason without parent permission. This includes during lunch and study hall. If a student has an appointment, i.e. doctor, medical, family matter, etc., they must have a note or phone call from a parent giving permission to leave. All students also must be signed out by a parent in order to leave school grounds. Students who leave campus without a valid reason will not be allowed to re-enter without parent contact.
Traveling to and from Abrookin – All students must take the bus to and from Abrookin Career and Technical Center and the main campus for any classes. This will prevent students from being late and having to go back through security, and ensure student safety. Students who do not take the bus will not be allowed to re-enter without parent contact. The bus is available at Building 2, Stair 2-2 and at the Abrookin entrance.
