News of the week
- Regents review underway – Regents review classes are happening now through June! Students should attend these review classes to help prepare for the upcoming Regents exams.
- Prom gown giveaway Saturday – Attention Falcons planning to attend either the Albany High junior or senior prom: You can get a shop for, try on and get a free prom gown from Macy's or House of Brides this Saturday (tomorrow) at school. The "store" is open 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on the third-floor corridor by the courtyard windows.
- Marching Falcons fundraiser Saturday – The Albany Marching Falcons will hold an indoor garage fundraiser this Saturday (tomorrow) in the gym at Albany School of Humanities (ASH), 108 Whitehall Road. Early birds can come at 8:30 a.m. for $5; admission is free from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the group's June trip to France.
- Juniors: time to schedule your senior portrait – Attention Class of 2025! It's time schedule your senior portrait. Upstate Images will be at Albany High School June 10-14. You can either sign up for a yearbook portrait, which is free and consists of either a tux or drape against a blue background, or choose a package with different options for dress, background and cost.
- In the food pantry next week – The school food pantry behind the Citizenship Office is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:45-5:30 p.m. or by appointment. Specials next week include iced tea, canned goods, pizza, rice, mashed potatoes, eggs, canned chicken, pizza and feminine hygiene products.
- College aid help next Friday – Completing college financial aid forms can be overwhelming, but the Albany High School Guidance Department is here to help. Guidance will host a working session for families needing assistance completing applications for the Free Application for Student Aid, or FAFSA, and the Tuition Assistance Program, or TAP – both of which help determine whether a student is eligible for college financial aid
- Letter to seniors from Gov. Kathy Hochul – Gov. Hochul urges seniors to apply for available financial aid.
- Automotive goes greener – Students in Patrick Whitton’s automotive technology classes can now learn the tricks of their trade on an electric vehicle, thanks to a donation from the New York Power Authority.
- Spring Chamber Concert – Visit our Facebook page to take a look at some photos from Wednesday's performance, the first of our three spring concerts!
- Bravo, maestros! – On Tuesday, 34 Albany High School students became members of the national Tri-M Music Honor Society in an induction ceremony studded with student performances. Learn more and get a list of the new inductees.

Important reminders
- Senior prom is June 15 – The Senior Class presents "Masquerade" on Saturday, June 15 from 6:30-11 p.m. at the Empire State Convention Center. Cost is $75, and payment must be either cash or a check made out to Class of 2024. Tickets will go on sale in mid-May and can be purchased during all lunch shifts outside the main office.
- Community meeting postponed until May – A second community meeting is planned in May to provide updates on our partnership with the National Coalition Building Institute and its work with our school community following last December’s student conflicts. Stay tuned for more information.
- Volunteer at a concession stand – The Albany Booster Club – which, among other things, supports athletic, arts and JROTC funding – needs adult volunteers to run the concession stand during home games this spring on the turf field. Please sign up for a shift today!
- A word about June 4 – Albany High will be administering the Algebra Regents on Tuesday, June. 4. Only students taking the exam need to report to school on that day.
- Next Gen Barbers is open for business – Students, staff and community members can get haircuts Thursday and Friday afternoons from from 1:15-2:45 p.m. at Abrookin. Cost is free for students, $5 for staff and $10 for community members, and an appointment is required.
- Student ID reminder – Please see this important information about student ID cards.
- Free salon services for 55+ – Attention Albany residents age 55 and up: Get free beauty services from aspiring beauticians every Thursday at Albany High!
- Leaving school – Albany High School is a closed campus. Students are not allowed to leave campus for any reason without parent permission. This includes during lunch and study hall. If a student has an appointment, i.e. doctor, medical, family matter, etc., they must have a note or phone call from a parent giving permission to leave. All students also must be signed out by a parent in order to leave school grounds. Students who leave campus without a valid reason will not be allowed to re-enter without parent contact.
- Traveling to and from Abrookin – All students must take the bus to and from Abrookin Career and Technical Center and the main campus for any classes. This will prevent students from being late and having to go back through security, and ensure student safety. Students who do not take the bus will not be allowed to re-enter without parent contact. The bus is available at Building 2, Stair 2-2 and at the Abrookin entrance.
