Surisawa ends Falcon tennis career at states

Masami Surisawa stands in front of a banner for the state championships

Congratulations to Albany High School senior and two-time Section 2 singles champ Masami Surisawa, who played his last tennis match as a Falcon on Friday at the state championships in New York City.

Surisawa finished the regular season and sectional tournament with an incredible 21-0 record before heading off to the state tennis tournament at the USTA National Tennis Center. He won his opening match at states on Friday morning to improve to 22-0 before falling to the tournament's No. 1 seed in the round of 16.

Surisawa won't have time for regrets. A talented trombonist, he is off to France on Tuesday morning with the Albany Marching Falcons. The Marching Falcons are one of two U.S. marching bands invited by the French government to participate in the country's 80th anniversary celebration of the D-Day invasion during World War II.

An amazing career for an amazing Falcon!
