Twana Davis from the National Coalition Building Institute attended the City School District of Albany’s Community Roundtable meeting at Harriet Gibbons Student Services Center on June 7 to provide an update on of her organization’s work at Albany High School this winter and spring.
The presentation included feedback from 10 focus groups NCBI held with students, employees, parents and guardians following last December’s conflicts among students at school and in the community. You can listen to Davis’ presentation and the discussion that followed via this video link.
You also can download the NCBI presentation.
Note that this presentation also was planned for a community forum at Albany High on June 4. That meeting was cancelled due to lack of attendance that evening.
Looking ahead to the 2024-25 school year, NCBI’s continued work at Albany High will include reconciliation sessions with students, identifying student leaders to serve as bridge builders between diverse groups at school, and leadership training for a school diversity resource team.
