News of the week
- Student safety – Please see this message from Principal Jodi Commerford about student safety during the after-school commute.
- Parent-teacher conferences – Our fall parent-teacher conferences are on Oct. 24 and 25. We encourage parents/guardians to view the schedule and sign-up instructions from Principal Jodi Commerford.
- Food trucks – Fitting in dinner the night of parent-teacher conferences is no longer a struggle. The Class of 2025 has you covered with their food truck fundraiser! Visit our website for details.
- Fishy field trip – On Oct. 10, students from Albany High participated in “A Day in the Life of the Hudson and Harbor.” Visit our Facebook page to see them collecting data on fish, water chemistry, tides and more!
- Athletic achievements – Our boys’ and girls’ cross country teams had a standout performance at the Maple Hill Invitational on Oct. 11 with Noah Bizer and Annebelle DiStefano both finishing in first place. We also celebrated Senior Night for our boys’ soccer team on Oct. 15.
- Sports photos – Our athletics department has added an additional photo session option for fall athletes on Oct. 23. Visit our website to learn more.
- Winter sports – It’s that time of year to sign up for winter sports. Families can register their student via Final Forms. Visit the athletics page of our website to learn more and mark your calendars for our winter athletics informational meeting on Nov. 6.
- PSAT deadline - Albany High School will administer the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT) on Friday, Oct. 25 at 8:30 a.m. There is no school this day due to staff development and parent-teacher conferences. Any sophomore or junior may take the test. Students are highly encouraged to register by Friday, Oct. 18. The cost is $18 and the final deadline for registering is Wednesday, Oct. 23.
- Smiling In Style – Thanks to the talents of Albany High cosmetology and barbering students, students from Thomas O’Brien Academy of Science and Technology (TOAST) got all glammed up with fresh haircuts and adorable styles right before their school picture day. The pictures say it all!
- Blaze Pizza fundraiser – Whether you prefer plain cheese or the works, your pizza purchase on Wednesday Oct. 30 can make a big difference for Albany High School SkillsUSA. SkillsUSA provides support to students studying in our career and technical program classes, such as our culinary students. Visit our website to view the flyer with details on ordering.

- Sports Livestreaming on Hudl – Can’t attend an Albany High sporting event live? We have a livestream option via Hudl for our sports on the Albany High turf (soccer, football, lacrosse and track), as well as in the Albany High gym (volleyball and basketball).
- Free Tutoring – This program runs afterschool Mon.-Thurs. Visit our website to view specific details.
- Student parking update – Juniors and seniors may now apply online for limited spots in the Washington Avenue lot. Learn more and link to the parking application.
- Visitor parking – Any visitors who park in the Washington Avenue lot should only park in the designated parking spaces and should not park on the yellow crosshatched lines.
