News of the week

  • Join the PTSA –  Have you joined the Parent Teacher Student Association for the 2024-25 school year? If not, we need you! Students, staff and parents/guardians are all encouraged to become members. Please consider signing up today The next meeting is this coming Tuesday, Oct. 29.   • Villain Cabaret – Our theatre students are thrilled to present Villain Cabaret on Nov. 1 and 2. Visit our calendar for additional details. It's going to be wicked good!
     
  • Soaring to semifinals – Our boys’ soccer team had a thrilling win over Shenendehowa and have advanced to the semifinals. They will play Guilderland on Tuesday Oct. 29 at 5 p.m. at LaSalle in Troy, New York. Falcon fans are encouraged to pre-purchase tickets via GoFan ticketing. Be advised that no cash payments will be accepted. All ticket purchases must be done online.
     
  • Fall fun – Students and staff are invited to share their talents at our Harvest Open Mic Night on Tuesday, Oct. 29. The following evening, Wednesday, Oct. 30, Student Government is getting students in a spooky mood with a showing of Corpse Bride after school. 
     
  • Sports spotlights – Our Falcons have enjoyed their very first season playing in the unified sports bocce league. We're proud of their exemplary sportsmanship and dedicated effort as they have paved the way for a new sport at Albany High! Our varsity girls' swimming team also made a splash this week at their meet on Oct 23 against Schenectady/Colonie with several athletes having first places finishes in their individual races. Go Falcons!
     
  • Winter sports – It’s that time of year to sign up for winter sports. Families can register their student via Final Forms. Visit the athletics page of our website to learn more and mark your calendars for our winter athletics informational meeting on Nov. 6. If your student is interested in unified bowling, please contact Rachel Swann at rswann@albany.k12.ny.us to receive the required paperwork for registration. 
     
  • Blaze Pizza fundraiser – Skip the meal prep at home on Wednesday, Oct. 30 and purchase dinner from Blaze Pizza to support Albany High School Skills USA. Visit our website to view the flyer with details on ordering.
     

  • Picture days – Picture days are right around the corner!

    • Underclass photos – Underclass photos will occur Nov. 4-7. Visit our website for details on schedule and ordering.

  • Sports Livestreaming on Hudl – Can’t attend an Albany High sporting event live? We have a livestream option via Hudl for our sports on the Albany High turf (soccer, football, lacrosse and track), as well as in the Albany High gym (volleyball and basketball).
     
  • Free Tutoring – This program runs afterschool Mon.-Thurs. Visit our website to view specific details.
     
  • Student parking update – Juniors and seniors may now apply online for limited spots in the Washington Avenue lot. Learn more and link to the parking application.
     
  • Visitor parking – Any visitors who park in the Washington Avenue lot should only park in the designated parking spaces and should not park on the yellow crosshatched lines.
