Chili Cookoff – On Friday, Nov. 15, our Albany High culinary students put on a wonderful chili cookoff event. Congratulations to our first place winners, Luna Santacruz and Omar Thomas Jr. and a big shout out to all our students who participated, as well as the staff, community members, fellow students and loved ones who came out to sample and vote.
- Winter sports season – Our winter sports season started on Monday, Nov. 18 for student athletes in grades 9-12. Visit our website to view important details about the tryout and practice schedules. Coaches will be communicating directly with student-athletes about the schedules the week of Nov. 25 since it is a holiday week.
- Community swimming – Did you know that the Albany High pool is open to the community for swimming two mornings each week? Visit our website for more details!
- Cheerleading Senior Night – On Friday, Nov. 15 we celebrated our senior athletes, Kaliyah Arrington, TayAsia "Taytay" Branch, Kalina Rodriguez, and Elana Temple, who participated in cheerleading this fall! We are proud of these Falcons and their dedication to their sport!
- Sports accolades – Our boys' soccer team received a special recognition by the Albany Common Council on Monday, Nov. 18. Four of our Falcon football players, Davon Jonas, Daaron Harrell, Xavier Soto and Kal-el McCargo Miller, played in the Senior All-Star Football Game at Shaker High School on Thursday, Nov. 21. And last, but certainly not least, we learned that two of our Falcon girls' flag football players, Maia Gallagher and Elana Temple, made the NFL Regional U18 Flag Football Team. Let's go Falcons!
- Field trips, events and clubs – Here at Albany High, there are so many fun things students can take part in! Our Film 1, Film 2 and Animation students visited Siena College to tour the communications department. On Friday, Nov. 15 the Albany High Theatre Ensemble hosted The Greatest Showman Sing-a-long and it was a total hit! On Wednesday, Nov. 20 our French Club hosted a totally delicious mousse tasting contest. Visit our website to learn more about the dozens of clubs we have here at Albany High!

- Falcon Food Pantry – Our Falcon Food Pantry has a wonderful selection of food available for students and families. We will be open on Monday, Nov. 25 and Tuesday, Nov. 26 prior to the Thanksgiving recess.
- Academic Resources – Our staff and teachers have been working hard to equip students with helpful resources to set them up for success both in and out of the classroom.

- Our Online Success Center uses the self-paced Edmentum Courseware, which can be used for credit recovery and online electives. Visit our website to learn more.
- The Liberty Partnerships Program is held every Thursday at the Falcon center during all lunch shifts. This program provides homework help, one-on-one tutoring, college and career preparation, mentorship and cultural and enrichment programs.

- Academy lottery applications – Applications are now available for the 2025-26 Albany High School academy lottery! Current City School District of Albany families are welcome to complete the application online now, but please note that all current eighth-graders will have the opportunity to visit the high school, learn about each academy, and then complete the application with their guidance counselor. Private, parochial and charter school families in the city who would like to enroll their current eighth-grader in the lottery must complete an application by Nov. 28.
