Falcons bring home silver at Tech Valley Regional!

Albany High Robotics Team 1493 fought valiantly this weekend at the Tech Valley Regional Competition hosted at the MVP arena —and they have a silver medal to prove it!

Over the course of three days, 57 teams from New York, Canada and Turkey put up a fierce competition. At the end of the qualification rounds, our Falcons were at place 18 in the rankings, which is lower than they had expected.

Thankfully, Shaker Robotics took note of our team's strong scoring ability and selected the Falcons with the seventh overall pick, alongside Team 3950 Robogym from Gleanhead, NY, with the tenth pick. Together, this three-team alliance defeated the second, fifth and sixth seeded teams and advanced to the finals!

Robotics club advisor, Kevin Allen, noted how wonderful the outpouring of support was in the stands, which were filled with parents and Albany Robotics Team 1493 alumni. He shared, "The excitement and cheering from our fans in the crowd was an absolute frenzy!"

In the finals, after two hard-fought matches, our Falcons walked out of the arena with a well-deserved silver medal!

Earlier in the season, the team also brought home a bronze medal with a third place finish at the Hudson Valley Regional, marking a strong competitive year for the Falcons.

We want to give a big shout out to our incredible club advisors and mentors who have guided and supported our Falcons this school year: Richard Kissane, Kevin Allen, Brent Cady, Andre Castagna and Allen Landman.
