What better way to conclude January 2025 than by uniting students, teachers, staff, board members and community members to make a priceless difference in the lives of patients in urgent need of blood donations!
During our blood drive on January 31, we successfully collected 61 pints of blood, which will assist individuals like Dreylan Holmes, a child battling sickle cell disease who relies on blood transfusions to manage unpredictable pain crises. Our partners at The American Red Cross want our donors to understand that their decision to donate blood is what enables Holmes and many others to receive transformative care. Though donating blood may appear to be a simple act of generosity, its impact on the life of the recipient is truly profound.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each donor, including Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter and Board of Education Member Vickie Smith. With the steady guidance of Blood Drive Club Advisor, Alicia Abdul, Albany High seniors Nathan Martel and Anya Stetzer continue to impress us with their leadership skills and commitment to the American Red Cross. We are thrilled to share that through their service, they are earning scholarship money for their post-high school studies.
Our third and final blood drive of the 2024-25 school year will take place in the spring. Stay tuned for more details, which we will share soon!
