On Saturday, 36 of our Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) students from the Sergeant Henry Johnson Battalion faced off against Westhill at the JROTC Fitness Competition hosted here at Albany High School.
Our cadets showcased their endurance, discipline, physical strength and teamwork as they competed in a variety of individual and team events, such as pull-ups, flex arm hang, standing broad jump, seated power throw, 3K run and more!
Albany High took first place in the following individual events:
- Pull-ups: Saleem Ismail
- Standing broad jump (male): Luis Carrasquillo-Torres
- Standing broad jump (female): Eh Shar Blu Say
Our Falcons also earned first place trophies for 14 team events, as well as the overall winner trophies for mixed team, male team and female team!
We are thrilled to share that our mixed team, male team and female team will advance to the National JROTC Fitness Competition, which will be held in Daytona, FL, in early May. At this competition, our cadets will have the opportunity to compete against thousands of cadets from across the country.
We are proud of our students and can't wait to see how they were perform at the national level.
Let’s go Falcons!
