Jan. 4: COVID-19 test kit pick-up

City School District of Albany tree logo.

COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits will be available for pick up through Friday, Jan. 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. here at Arbor Hill Elementary.

You can only pick up test kits for City School District of Albany students who attend Arbor Hill Elementary School. Tests for older students in the district must be picked up from their middle school or Albany High School.

  • Come to the main entrance/front door and you will receive a slip with a number on it
  • You will need your student's name, date of birth and grade
  • A staff member will take your child’s information and retrieve the kit(s) while you wait outside
  • There are two tests in each box. You can give one test to your child regardless of symptoms and save the other test if the child shows symptoms at a later point.

Please note that students are permitted to come to school even if a parent/guardian hasn't picked up a test kit. Unfortunately, we are unable to send the test kits home with students and at this point we are only providing one test kit per student so if you picked up at Harriet Gibbons Student Services Center on Sunday, you are not eligible to receive another kit.

Please follow these instructions for administering the test at home; these instructions also will be provided with each test kit:

  • Please use one test on the morning after the day you pick up the kit. Read the directions included in the test kit completely prior to using the test.
  • The test will take a little more than 10 minutes to complete. Please plan accordingly.
  • Please note that test results should be read at 10 minutes, and not later than 15 minutes.
  • If your child tests positive (+), please do the following:
    • Keep your child home from school;
    • Take a photo of the positive test and the test kit;
    • Report the positive case to the Albany County Department of Health, using this link;
    • Notify your child’s school nurse, via email if possible. You can find the email for your school nurse on each school’s web page.
