Students encouraged to play with their food!

A student creates a sculpture of food.

Earlier this week, Marion McCarthy and Jessica Piacente's classes learned about organic produce thanks to the Honest Weight Food Co-Op.

The second graders had an opportunity to create their own food sculpture using sunflower seed spread, apples, blueberries, grapes and coconut.

The little engineers/chefs/artists designed, planned and built during the hands-on activity.

ELA was incorporated as students wrote a reflection piece, or recorded a video, about the experience.

Then came the grand finale: a delicious snack they created all on their own!
