Creative project builds community

Students make tissue paper lanterns in art class with water bottles.

‘Tis the season for apple picking, pumpkin carving and, here at Albany School of Humanities, lantern making!

During the next couple weeks, Amanda Mannato’s art classes are making lanterns from recycled water bottles and tissue paper.

A fun project on its own but all students, and their families, are also invited to march with ASH as a group at the 9th annual Albany Lantern Parade – a beautiful celebration of community where people gather at sunset to walk together with handmade lanterns.

This year it’s scheduled for Nov. 3 at 4:30 p.m. in Washington Park and ASH is always proud to participate – save the date and please join us for this free and accessible event.
