A Red Dragon farewell

ASH students saying goodbye during "reverse parade"

On Friday, our students, teachers and staff bid farewell to beloved Albany School of Humanities Assistant Principal Glenn Westfall Jr. as he officially transitions to his new role as the assistant director of athletics, which will begin on Monday, Jan. 27.

During his time at ASH, Westfall Jr. has partnered with school leadership and faculty to support students in making remarkable strides in their academics.

ASH principal Marie Culihan collaborated with students, teachers and staff to surprise Westfall Jr. with a “reverse parade” in which students and staff lined the hallways and held up posters and cards with well wishes as they clapped and showed their appreciation! Westfall Jr.’s rapport and special connection with the students is undeniable! He was showered with hugs and high-fives, and there were many teary eyes amongst students and staff.

At the end of the celebration, Westfall Jr. was the guest of honor for the presentation of an original song and an acrostic poem written collaboratively by our Red Dragons to capture how much Westfall Jr. has meant to them.

In the acrostic poem, students chose words that best describe Westfall Jr.:

  • Marvelous
  • Red Dragon

  • Warm
  • Excellent
  • Superstar
  • Thoughtful
  • Funny
  • Amazing
  • Loving
  • Listener

We join the ASH students, teachers and staff in wishing Westfall Jr. the very best in his new role as assistant director of athletics!
