Monday is deadline for city summer jobs

The City of Albany is accepting applications through Monday at noon for the 2025 LIGHT Summer Youth Employment Program.

The LIGHT Program – Learning, Initiative and Gaining Headway Together – will run from July 7-Aug. 8.

The program is open to youth aged 14-18 who live in Albany. Youth employees will a total of 100 hours and earn $15.50 per hour. Applicants must meet all eligibility and orientation requirements to participate.

In order complete the registration process, you will need to:

  • Fill out the online application;
  • Print out and complete a payroll packet; you also can pick up a paper copy of the payroll packet in the main office at your middle school, Albany International Center, Tony Clement Center for Education, and your academy office at Albany High School);
  • Bring the payroll packet and the additional required documents to the Summer Youth Employment Office in Bleecker Stadium. The office will be open weekdays  from 3-6 p.m. through Friday, April 4. The office also will be open Saturday, March 29 by appointment only. Call (518) 438-1082) to make a Saturday appointment.
  • Attend and complete a mandatory family orientation session in May.

Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served process, and registration does not guarantee a paid summer job. Learn more here. Questions?
