Delaware Community School hosted its annual Cinco de Mayo celebration on Friday, with some 450 people flocking to the school to dance, hear music and eat lots of great food.
The school’s Cinco de Mayo event celebrated general Hispanic culture and was open to all students in the school, their families and community members.
About a third of Delaware students take part in the Dual Language Program, where students learn in both English and Spanish and leave the school writing and speaking in both languages.
Cinco de Mayo, Spanish for fifth of May, commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over the French forces of Napoleon III on May 5, 1862, at the Battle of Puebla.
