The following message is from Principal Rachel Stead:
Dear Families of In-person Students,
All students in the City School District of Albany will have a day of distance learning Thursday due to the weather forecast, which is calling for the first significant snow of the season in the Capital Region. Please see the standard guidance below on how in-person students will access learning as we move to distance learning. There is no change in schedule for our students who are already enrolled in virtual learning.
Materials
Students will come home with the necessary materials to complete their work for the day. If they do not have access to a Chromebook or other device, they will bring home paper and pencil work with instructions from the teacher on what they need to do.
Google Information
If your child will be accessing their teacher’s Google classroom, they log on in one of three ways:
- Go to classroom.google.com
- Go to Clever
- Go to www.google.com
- Click on the waffle
- Click on Google Classroom.
- A link to the Google Meet session will be located in the banner at the top of the Google Classroom page.
Core instruction guidance and schedule
All students are expected to engage in instruction on this day. Teachers will provide live instruction for their class Google Meet. Students have been assigned to either a morning or afternoon session by their teacher.
Encore guidance and schedule
Teachers will communicate the Encore schedule (PE, music, art, library) and link for students. If your child is unable to engage in live instruction, a recording of the lesson will be available in the Google Classroom.
Reading, ENL, speech, counseling and related services
Students who receive support services will continue with the services. Service providers will work with families on the student specific schedule.
Attendance and engagement
Attendance and active participation is required to ensure continuity of learning during temporary and extended school closures. Students who cannot attend the live Google Meet should complete and return the work sent home by teachers in order to be marked present for the day.
