Amelia Gallagher will return to Delaware Community School as its assistant principal on Wednesday.
Gallagher, who began as Delaware’s assistant principal in August 2018, returns to join Principal Rachel Stead on the school’s leadership team as the City School District of Albany begins to strategically rebuild its staffing and programs.
Gallagher is among 74.2 faculty and staff members the district is adding during the third marking period as it expands in-person opportunities for general education students in grades 7-12 and begins to restore supports for students across all grade levels.
In September, Delaware’s assistant principal position was among the 215.6 positions the district reduced when faced with the possibility of a 20% reduction in state aid due to the COVID-19 economic crisis. The district also is planning to rehire additional faculty and staff for the fourth quarter, which begins April 26.
