The following message is from Dr. Stacy Dobbs, Delaware Community School principal.
I am writing to let you know that Delaware Community School held a “lockdown” drill on Wednesday, today, as part of our school safety plan.
A lockdown is one of many drills we regularly conduct to practice our reaction to different events that may occur in our school. The lockdown drill simulated what we would do during an incident that might pose a threat in or around our school. During the lockdown, students and staff remained in their classrooms and were not allowed to move throughout the building.
Your child may have questions about the drill. You may want to emphasize that practicing how to react will help your child and the school respond appropriately if a real threat arises.
As always, the safety of students and staff is a priority for our school and throughout the City School District of Albany. I welcome any questions or concerns you may have regarding this matter.
