The 15th annual K-8 Art Exhibition at Empire State Plaza runs March 4-22 with a special reception honoring the participating young artists scheduled for March 6.
The reception, which will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the South Concourse Performance Space (Madison Avenue entrance), will include remarks from keynote speaker Rae' Frasier - a local artist, community arts advocate and artist mentor who works with student-artists in Albany and Schenectady. All participating students and their families are invited to attend.
"Please join us in celebrating and recognizing our students' hard work and creativity," said the City School District of Albany's Fine Arts Supervisor Kate Wright.
The City School District of Albany has 274 pieces - from 15 elementary and middle schools - on display this year. All were inspired by the Empire State Plaza's abstract expressionist art collection.
The 2024 exhibit contains more than 1,100 pieces from 16 local school districts.
