Sixth-graders at Albany International Academy ambled through organelles and meandered through mitochondria during their Wednesday science lesson about plant and animal cells.
How did they do it? Using new virtual-reality viewers with guidance from teacher Kristen Backes and tech coach Terrance McNally. Students peered through the high-tech goggles strapped onto their heads and experienced the 3-D sensation of walking through different parts of a cell.
Take a look at a Facebook photo album from their virtual reality journey. (You don't need a Facebook account to see the photos linked in the highlighted text. A window may appear that says, "To see more from Albany City Schools on Facebook, log on or create an account,” but you can dismiss it by clicking “not now.”)
Students then wrote about their observations. More VR experiences to come!
