Fizzing planet lab proves fun and educational

A student dissolves a planet made from baking soda with vinegar.

It was two science-lessons-in-one for prekindergarten on Wednesday as Sarah LeClair and Nai King's class continue their outer space unit.

The students learned about planets and then molded their own – out of a mix of baking soda, water and food coloring – and then watched as the “planets” bubbled and dissolved after dripping on vinegar.

Some students even experimented with more than the eye dropper’s worth of vinegar and created a hurricane!

Sometimes the simplest products can make for the most fun!
