Kung hei fat choi (gōng xǐ fā cái)!

Two students share items that represent the Lunar New Year.

Kindergarten knows the reason for their day off tomorrow!

On Tuesday, Wanda Carter’s class learned about the Year of the Snake and how the Lunar New Year is observed in Asian countries and Asian communities here in the U.S.

The group first heard from a guest speaker, who shared the holiday’s history and how her family celebrates by gathering, enjoying traditional foods, giving gifts and the joy of other festivities and traditions.

The students then expressed their new knowledge with a project, ate Asian food (with chopsticks) and topped off the lesson with a fortune cookie!
