The Gatorettes were working it well into the evening on Tuesday as they rehearsed the dance moves they’ll perform Saturday at the CNYS Black Expo.
The Gatorettes is the name of an after-school program at Giffen Memorial Elementary School that boasts a dance and step team, along with hair, nail, makeup and fashion studies. Their focus on Tuesday, and every day this week, was their upcoming dance show.
Led by adviser My-Eisha McGill, the Gatorettes are 23 students. Most are from Giffen, but several students from Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School participate and act as mentors.
The Black Expo will be held from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center. You can check out the Gatorettes dance show at 1:30 p.m., and you won’t be disappointed!
