Starting Tuesday, William S. Hackett Middle School will distribute COVID-19 home test kits to parents and guardians of students who did not yet receive them.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to park in the parking lot behind school and walk to the main entrance on Delaware Avenue, where they need to provide their student's name, grade and date of birth. Parents and guardians are asked to stay in the school vestibule until the test order is filled and completed. For the health and safety of all, parents and guardians are reminded to wear face masks.
The school will provide one kit for each Hackett student, and each kit contains two tests.
The pickup schedule follows:
Tuesday, Jan. 4
- 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. (cancelled due to security matter)
- 4-6 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 5
- 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
- 4-6 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 6
- 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m..
Friday, Jan. 7
- 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Instructions for testing
- Please use one test the morning after you pick up the test kit, prior to sending your child to school. Read the directions included in the test kit completely prior to using the test.
- The test will take a little more than 10 minutes to complete. Please plan accordingly.
- Please note that test results should be read at 10 minutes, and not later than 15 minutes.
- If your child tests positive (+), please do the following:
- Keep your child home from school;
- Take a photo of the positive test and the test kit;
- Report the positive case to the Albany County Department of Health, using this link;
- Notify one of the school nurses, via email if possible, at ccramer@albany.k12.ny.us or driley@albany.k12.ny.us.
