In spring 2024, the New York State Education Department will begin carrying out a plan to require all students in grades 3-8 take state tests on computers, and the City School District of Albany is taking steps to assure we are prepared for the transition from paper to computer-based testing.
As a result, William S. Hackett Middle School seventh graders will take this April’s English Language Arts (ELA) exam on computers. In the weeks before the test, these students will have an opportunity to take part in guided practice sessions to help them prepare for the transition.
Also, the students will participate in a brief practice test session on Jan. 24. The practice test has no academic consequences; its goal is to assure that the district has all the necessary technology in place.
Learn more about this initiative – which will be phased in for all grades and subjects by the 2025-26 school year – in this letter from Hackett Principal Michael Paolino.
