Weekly update from Principal Paolino

Spring seems to have finally sprung! The weather is milder, trees have begun to bud, and the grass is coming back to life. We are already halfway through the month of April, and June will be upon us before we know it! In just one more week, our New York State testing sessions will start, beginning with our New York State English Language Arts test on Tuesday, April 23, followed by Math on May 7 and Science on May 14. See the complete schedule below. With spring comes many other important events. Please stay tuned for details.

Right off the bat, we had an early-release day on Monday, April 8 as Solar Eclipse 2024 swept across portions of the North American continent. Students were released at 12:45 p.m. so they could reach home safely prior to the onset of the slow dim of daylight. I hope you were able to witness this natural phenomenon either with the special eyewear, social media or by watching on your television! We also had a recess day on Wednesday, April 10 in observance of Eid al-Fitr, which is one of two Muslim holidays marking the end of a month-long fast from sunrise to sunset. It's considered one of the most festive times of the year, when communities strive to spread joy and festivities.

We hope you have already purchased your 2023-24 yearbook, but if you haven't or are on the fence, please place your order today! They’re $25 each (includes tax) and you can order them through Treering.com before the deadline of Wednesday, May 22. Go to www.treering.com/validate and enter our school's passcode 1016488352114359. There's nothing like reliving a memory, and yearbooks provide just that.  It is a story of precious years out of your child's life, created by the school community of which your child played an important part. You might only get two words out of your child about their day, but yearbooks speak volumes about moments, experiences and memories made throughout the years at Hackett.

Please remind your children to finish the semester strong, to maintain their self-confidence and be proactive in assuring their assignments are being completed and handed in on time. The third quarter ends this Friday, April 19!

... and that was the week that was!
