Happy Monday!
Our main focus last week was preparing for the New York State assessments. New York State ELA testing will begin first thing Tuesday morning, April 23, and run through Friday, May 3. New York State Math testing follows on May 7, with Science testing on May 14. The NYSESLAT Speaking Test, assessing English language proficiency of all English language learners, began on April 15 and will run through May 19. See the complete chart below. Students must report to school on time during the testing dates. Please ensure that your child goes to bed at an appropriate time and has healthy foods and nourishment the days of assessment. This is particularly important during testing as we hope to give all our students every opportunity to succeed.

There's nothing like receiving your own yearbook at the end of the school year and enjoying the tradition of yearbook signing day! It's a time for well-wishes and messages that will be cherished for a lifetime, especially from friends you may not see again. It's also fun to look back and see the hairstyles and fashion of the times – I certainly have a few yearbook photos I'd like to forget – but they are still great memories. Whether you crack open your yearbook in five years or twenty-five years, the same memories, teachers and meaningful moments with friends will still be there. It will still be Hackett, the way it was. - If your student-athlete plays a JV or varsity sport, please consider signing up for a shift this season in the Albany Booster Club concession stand! The money made during home games on the AHS turf field supports a variety of extra-curriculars throughout the district.
