All Montessori Magnet School students will have a distance learning day Friday out of an abundance of caution due to a high number of COVID-19 cases affecting the building.
The district was notified Thursday of seven new confirmed cases at Montessori with 65 additional contacts requiring quarantine. This is in addition to 43 individuals quarantined due to six previous cases at the school since Oct. 22.
Due to these elevated numbers, and after consulting with the Albany County Health Department and the City School District of Albany medical director, the district has made the decision for Montessori to switch to distance learning to lessen the risk for further transmission.
Chromebook pickup Friday morning
Parents and guardians, email your child’s teacher if you need a Chromebook at home for virtual instruction. Devices will be available for parents and guardians to pick up at school from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday.
Teachers will begin their live instruction via Google Classroom at 10 a.m. Your child’s teacher will have more information about Friday’s full instructional schedule in their Google Classroom.
Remember that your child should use their district login credentials to access Google Classroom. Please contact your child’s teacher if you need help with that.
Please watch for more information about next week’s schedule.
