COVID-19 test kit pick-up

COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits will be available for pick up from Tuesday-Friday here at Montessori Magnet School. They will be distributed during the following specified hours:

Tuesday, Jan. 4

  • 2:50-5:30 p.m. (exterior library door on Austain Ave./playground side of the building)

Wednesday, Jan. 5

  • 8:30-10:30 a.m. (entrance on Austain Ave. - playground side of the building)

Thursday, Jan. 6

  • 12:45-1:45 p.m. (entrance on Austain Ave. - playground side of the building)

Friday, Jan. 7

  • 8:30-10:30 a.m. (entrance on Austain Ave. - playground side of the building)
  • 12:45-1:45 p.m. (entrance on Austain Ave. - playground side of the building)

Parents/guardians/designee will be expected to sign for the test kit and provide the student's name, age and date of birth. Please do not use the bus loop/Tremont St. entrance.

Please note that students are permitted to come to school even if a parent/guardian/designee hasn't picked up a test kit. Unfortunately, we are unable to send test kits home with students. At this time we are only providing one test kit per student, so if you have picked one up on Sunday at Harriet Gibbons Student Services Center, you are not eligible to receive another kit. 

You can only pick up test kits for students who attend Montessori Magnet School. Tests for City School District of Albany siblings must be picked up from their school.

Please follow these instructions for administering the test at home; these instructions also will be provided with each test kit: 

  • Please use one test on the morning after the day you pick up the kit. Read the directions included in the test kit completely prior to using the test.
  • The test will take a little more than 10 minutes to complete. Please plan accordingly.
  • Please note that test results should be read at 10 minutes, and not later than 15 minutes. 
  • If your child tests positive (+), please do the following: 
    • Keep your child home from school;
    • Take a photo of the positive test and the test kit;
    • Report the positive case to the Albany County Department of Health, using this link;
    • Notify MMS nurse at 518.475.6680.
