The following message is from Principal Andrea Piper. It was sent home as a letter in student backpacks on Jan. 10.
It is our goal to make Myers a safe and welcoming space for all our students. We recently received reports of harassment within our student population. These behaviors are in violation of the Dignity for All Students Act, and we are taking the situation very seriously. Any offending students demonstrating inappropriate behaviors will be addressed in alignment with the City School District of Albany Student Code of Conduct.
In order to address this concern in a school-wide manner, school and district administrators visited every classroom on Friday afternoon to remind students of behavior expectations. Also, we have established a system where students can make anonymous reports of bullying and other inappropriate behavior they witness at school. This “No Place for Hate Box” is located in the guidance office.
