Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School in-person sixth-grade students will shift to a virtual instructional model through the holiday break due to the impact of COVID-19 on the building.

The Albany County Health Department identified 67 additional contacts of a positive case at Myers over the weekend. All of these individuals are now quarantined at home. Due to the impact of this case on Myers’ faculty and staff, the school cannot currently accommodate in-person teaching and learning for sixth grade.

Myers’ general education sixth-graders will remain virtual through Dec. 23, when the holiday break begins. The in-person instructional option will resume after the break on Monday, Jan. 4.

The in-person option for all Myers’ self-contained special education students in grades 6-8 is not affected and will remain in place.

Grab and go” meal pickup is available each school day at 15 district schools, either from 9 a.m.-noon or 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Families can pick up breakfast and lunch each day. Myers is not one of the “grab and go” pickup locations.
