FACS class combines life lesson and healthy snack

A Myers eighth grader shows off a completed jar of pickles.

Larry Drew’s Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) students got themselves into a pickle on Thursday!

After learning about food preservation, past and present, the eighth graders completed a pickling lab. They canned tomatoes, carrots, peppers, beets and cucumbers from the Myers garden (plus produce donations from family and friends) and will get to taste the “fruits” of their labor in a few weeks.

Hands-on learning is the best kind of learning!
