District closed for Independence Day
The following is a message from Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School Principal William Rivers:
On Tuesday afternoon, a member of our security team detected the smell of smoke coming from a bathroom electrical outlet. We immediately called the Albany Fire Department and, after a brief investigation, they determined the outlet did not pose any dangers.
Our Maintenance and Operations Department has been notified and the outlet will be repaired immediately.
The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority and instruction was not interrupted due to today’s incident.
