Garden field trip

A student samples a mint leaf in the garden at Myers Middle School

We may be nearing the end of the school year but the learning hasn’t stopped here at Myers – it has just changed to a more “seasonal” approach.

On Thursday, Larry Drew’s Family and Consumer Studies (FACS) classes took a touch-and-taste walkaround through the Vegetable Project’s garden behind the school.

The students sampled produce fresh from the earth, most of which was planted by their peers earlier in the year. The reviews were mixed but one thing was unanimous – fresh vegetables definitely don’t taste like store-bought vegetables!
