NO SCHOOL MONDAY: Labor Day
Session 2 of STEMinistas - a district initiative to encourage girls to explore math and science during a fun and educational free camp - saw middle-school students learning about ecological sustainability and human impact on the environment.
The girls, in grades 7-8 at William S. Hackett Middle School, Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School and North Albany Middle School, conducted a lab on Wednesday that simulated an oil spill in the ocean.
Session 1 was held Aug. 12-17, also at Albany High School, and one of the many highlights was a face-to-face presentation on birds of prey.
