Multitasking at Myers!

Two students wear virtual reality headsets in science class.

English Language Learners (ELLs) in Lauren Oppelt and Kristen Buyce’s class explored the science behind thrill rides – without ever leaving the classroom!

Last week the students, with support from district technology coaches, “visited” a multi-cultural amusement park thanks to ClassVR, a virtual reality educational tool.

This wasn’t just for entertainment, however! The eighth graders used the headsets to identify potential and kinetic energy examples found in the immersive interface. They then used another program, Sketch and Tell, to draw and explain their amusement park “field trip” that included vocabulary relevant to the science lesson.

Talk about integrated learning!
