Lesson increases students' knowledge of propaganda tools

Grade 8 social studies is exploring the power of persuasion.

According to the National Archives, during World War II “words, posters and films waged a constant battle for the hearts and minds of the American citizenry just as surely as military weapons engaged the enemy.”

Izzy Rutkey’s classes are researching and then creating their own propaganda posters promoting enlistment, war bonds, gas conservation, food rationing and many other issues of the era.
