Keeping it clean

Maintenance worker cleans a door handle with disinfectant and a cloth

The City School District of Albany has made it a top priority to control the spread of illness in all our buildings, and on Friday maintenance staff were hard at work cleaning and disinfecting high-contact areas in all our buildings.

Using spray disinfectant (and in one case, a handheld sprayer that looks like something out of “Star Wars”), custodians attacked all manner of surfaces that have frequent contact: door handles, railings, desk tops, water fountains and more. The disinfection is happening in concert with intensive cleaning efforts.

Superintendent Kaweeda G. Adams has directed principals to make sure students can wash their hands before lunch each day, and over the next few weeks we also will install hand-sanitizer dispensers in high-traffic areas in every school.
