About our school
New Scotland Elementary School’s mission is to create a community of compassionate, everyday leaders. As a school we strive to build upon each students’ unique talents and further develop the individual leadership qualities they already possess.
New Scotland is one of three AVID elementary schools in the City School District of Albany. Through AVID – Advancement Via Individual Determination – our students become critical thinkers and goal-setters who are organized, determined and self-motivated to learn and succeed.
As a school community, we build these skills within our students to prepare them for their educational journeys. Our students arrive to middle school as motivated and determined leaders ready to succeed in high school and beyond, whether it be college or career.
Our focus is not solely on what to learn, but how to learn, instilling a lifelong love of learning in all of our students.
