Mathematicians in Kristina Smith’s first grade class at New Scotland Elementary School used their addition and subtraction smarts on Tuesday to program small robots shaped like bees!
Under the guidance of technology coach Sue McCoy and math coach Kim McDonough, students worked in teams to solve math problems and code the “Bee Bots.” A special guest at the lesson was April Prestipino, Ed.D., the school district’s new assistant superintendent for assessment, accountability and technology innovation, who partnered with a student.
Also lending canine love to the operation was Duke the therapy dog.
