Nine hundred bulbs planted in October = a tulip paradise in May!
The garden beds behind New Scotland Elementary School will blaze with colorful tulips in spring, the result of Friday’s day-long bulb-planting extravaganza.
Check out a Facebook photo album from the hands-on efforts. (You don't need a Facebook account to see the photos. A window may appear that says, "To see more from Albany City Schools on Facebook, log on or create an account,” but you can dismiss it by clicking “not now.”)
Just about every New Scotland student dug up earth or planted tulip bulbs under the guidance of our fabulous community partners at the Vegetable Project.
Getting kids outside and closer to nature, where they can get their hands dirty, is a goal of the Vegetable Project. And New Scotland’s tulips will provide the perfect backdrop for the Vegetable Project’s 2025 Evening in the Garden party, where the community is invited to see, smell and in some cases taste the good things grown in school gardens. The event is Tuesday, May 6 – mark your calendars.
Thanks to all who volunteered to help with the effort!
