News & Updates

Springing ahead

We are springing into action! The next two weeks will be very busy as we enter testing season. We also have many reasons to celebrate, and of course, we strive to fill our days with activities and learning opportunities that excite our students.

As we conclude Eid, I want to extend my warm wishes to all families celebrating this special occasion. May this time bring joy and togetherness to your homes.

Students in grades 3-5 will take the NYS English Language Arts exam on the following days:

  • Third grade: April 8 and 9
  • Fourth and fifth grades: April 9 and 10

Please ensure that your child is well-rested and prepared for the testing days. We encourage them to try their best and remind them that this is just one way to show what they know.

Our April break will take place from April 14-18. This is a great time for students to recharge and enjoy time with family and friends. For those families who celebrate, Easter Sunday will follow shortly after our break. Easter is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on renewal and hope, and it brings families together in celebration.

Please look out for our student newsletter that will be sent home via backpack. It is created solely by students in our intermediate grades. Please take some time to review it with your child. Our hope is that our students see their voices heard through the newsletter.

Our annual Talent Show is tonight (Friday 3/28) at 6 p.m. at Hackett Middle School, 45 Delaware Ave. Please come out to support our students. They are talented and bound to entertain you!

Student Leadership Team shout-out

Board of Education Member Vickie Smith visited our school on Thursday, yesterday, and met with our Student Leadership Team. She was so impressed by their feedback that she mentioned them during her update to the board at their meeting that evening. She was particularly interested in their concerns about our over use of plastic in school and its effects on the environment. Video of the meeting is on YouTube.
