The following message is from North Albany Middle School Principal Andrea Piper:
Dear families:
I am writing to update you on a security matter that we are investigating in partnership with local, state and federal law enforcement officials.
On Sunday, an unidentified caller left a message on our answering machine at school threatening violence against North Albany Middle School on Wednesday, Sept. 13. We reported this information to the Albany Police Department immediately when we received the message Monday morning.
The Albany police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have informed us that they do not consider this to be a credible threat. However, out of an abundance of caution we will have additional police and security personnel at school throughout the day Wednesday.
The safety and security of every member of our school community is a top priority at North Albany and throughout the City School District of Albany. Law enforcement officials continue to investigate this matter, and we will provide updates if we are advised that additional security precautions may be recommended.
You can contact me at school should you have any additional questions about this matter at (518) 475-6800 or via email.
