Would you like chips or soda with that?

A student serves a staff member a bagged lunch.

North Albany Middle School faculty and staff didn’t have to pack their lunch on Friday, thanks to an Albany Fund for Education partnership grant.

Speech and language impaired students in the self-contained classrooms opened up a lunch cart this week.

Faculty and staff pre-order a sandwich, made by City Line Café and Deli, and then the students greet the “customer,” serve the bagged meal, collect money and create change.

The goal is to increase communication skills while also providing valuable life and job skills.

Thanks to NAMS’ speech language pathologist Sarah Coons for this delicious learning opportunity for our students!
