- Let's give a warm welcome to North Albany Middle School's new school resource officer (SRO), Brian Mascaro. Officer Mascaro is a 12-year veteran of the Albany Police Department who is also a long-time community partner to the City School District of Albany (seen here in August - officer on right in photo - during a visit to Albany International Academy).
- You're invited! Please join us on Wednesday, Feb. 12 from 5-7 p.m. for our school community's Black History Month celebration. The special evening will honor Black history, culture and achievements and will feature student presentations, performances and a complimentary dinner for all attendees (you can still sign up for the dinner using this link). Additionally, don't forget that Black history them days begin Monday!
- Feb. 10: Do it for the Culture Day (wear traditional clothing)
- Feb. 11: Crazy Hair Day (honoring Madame C.J. Walker)
- Feb. 12: HBCU Day (rep your favorite historically black college/university)
- Feb. 13: Black Excellence Day (dress in formal or culturally inspired attire)
- Feb. 14: Red, Black and Green Day (show cultural pride with these colors)
- Scholarships are still available (first come, first served) for the four-week New York State Summer School of the Arts, which offers visual arts, media arts and theatre arts sessions. The deadline to apply is March 14. Please reach out to Ms. Sweet or Ms. Tolmie if you have questions about the application process.
