Despite the chilly weather, students at Pine Hills Elementary School enjoyed a delightful evening on Wednesday during their Playtime Party, surrounded by peers, family members, school staff and community volunteers. This exciting event featured a variety of free and engaging activities, including a bounce house, inflatable games, oversized building blocks, face painting, art activities, tasty snacks and much more!
In the gym, it was heartwarming to witness the joy of children collaborating to build towers with blocks, scoring baskets at the inflatable basketball goal, and getting their sillies out in the bounce house with friends! Our dedicated adult volunteers played a fantastic role, actively engaging with the children and families while ensuring a safe, enjoyable and welcoming atmosphere.
In the cafeteria, Albany Tulip Court members Labika Baral and Imani Ibrahim oversaw the face painting station, accommodating a range of requests like rainbows, blue kitties and Spiderman! Local muralist, early childhood educator and owner of Paint Cohoes: Studio & Gallery, Alicia Lee guided young artists through a collaborative painting project. We are grateful to Albany Center Gallery Director, Tony Iadicicco, for assisting the event planning team in conceptualizing the project and securing a talented artist to work with our students. The colorful canvas they created, adorned with cheerful flowers, is a true treasure!
Throughout the event, pizza, popcorn, fresh fruit and drinks were distributed for children and families to enjoy. Everyone who came out to play left with satisfied bellies and happy hearts!
We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Playtime Party sponsors: Pine Hills Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Honest Weight Food Co-op, Love Albany, Albany Center Gallery and the Albany Tulip Court. Thank you for dedicating your time, resources and energy to support our students and families at Pine Hills!
