As you may know, our school briefly put lockout procedures in place shortly after the end of the school day Friday due to a police investigation in our neighborhood. This was in response to a fight among a group of teen-agers by the firehouse at the corner of Clinton Avenue and Ontario Street.
One teen involved in the fight had a cut near the eye and was brought into our school to see the nurse for treatment until emergency response personnel arrived. No Roots Academy students were involved in this incident.
We understand that this incident may have been upsetting to students and families who were present at the time. Our school staff will have support from members of our district-level crisis response team on Monday should anyone in our school community want to talk about Friday’s events.
Parents and guardians, please follow this link for information and resources you can use at home to talk with and support your students.
If you have any additional questions or concerns about this matter, or about safety at Roots Academy in general, please contact me at school at any time.
