The following message is from City School District of Albany Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter:
I am writing to let you know that the City School District of Albany is working with the Magnet Schools of America to conduct a review of our four magnet programs, and to ask for your input to help inform this process.
We are eager to assess of the quality of our magnet programs to provide greater transparency to the community, and to begin making school improvement decisions based on evidence and meaningful feedback. As part of this work, a team from MSA will visit Thomas O'Brien Academy of Science and Technology on Wednesday and Thursday. They will be evaluating our magnet programs using indicators such as diversity, student achievement, curriculum, professional development, leadership, district relations, and family and community engagement.
The MSA team also will participate in class visits and conduct interviews, formally and informally, with school staff and administrators. The purpose is provide MSA with additional context, history and perspective about magnet schools in our district, and how they are striving to meet the Five Pillars and Ten Standards of Magnet School Excellence.
We ask that you take a few minutes to complete this survey to provide us with your feedback. The survey deadline has been extended to the end of the day on Friday, June 7.
As a result of this work and with your input, the district will have relevant recommendations to improve our program in all four magnet schools. I am looking forward to the results of the review, and to working with your school community to improve our programs.
Sincerely,
Joseph Hochreiter
Superintendent
